Engineering Technician

Conduct existing condition evaluations involving inspecting the physical condition of structures and systems. Research technical reports, products or other documents to obtain information for higher graded technicians or professionals. May perform inventory assessments of park landscapes including but not limited to features such as historic structures, paved and unpaved roads, bridges, housing, trails, administrative and visitor use buildings, and utility systems. Order, procure, and coordinate materials, equipment and labor in support of projects. Travel to park sites to collect data and samples, take measurements and photographs, conduct surveys, attend meetings, and inspect facilities or construction activities. Input compiled data into Facility Management Software System (FMSS). Perform cost estimates using the Cost Estimate Software System. To qualify for this position at the GS-7 grade level, you must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement:
Experience:
At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-6 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as:
Technical work in:
drafting, surveying construction estimating, physical science, mathematics, aerospace, architecture, chemicals, electrical or mechanical systems, mining, petroleum, or nuclear systems. Experience in a trade or craft may be credited as specialized experience when the work provided intensive knowledge of engineering principles, techniques, methods, and precedents. Examples are trade positions with substantial developmental, test, or design responsibilities such as:
Planner and estimator who analyzed designs for production purposes. Instrument maker or model maker who performed design or development work on devices fabricated. You must include hours per week worked. -OR- EDUCATION:
Successfully completed at least one year (18 semester hours) of graduate level coursework. NOTE:
Graduate education or an internship meets the specialized experience required above GS-5 only in those instances where it is directly related to the work of the position. Part-time graduate education is creditable in accordance with its relationship to a year of full-time study at the school attended. You must include transcripts. OR COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND

A combination of specialized experience and education as described above. Note:
In combining education with specialized experience for the GS-7 requirements, only graduate level coursework which is directly related to the work of the position counts towards the specialized experience required. For this substitution at GS-7, one half year (9 semester hours) is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience. EXAMPLE:
6 months of specialized experience as described above (50% of the experience requirement), and one half year of graduate coursework from an accredited institution (50% of the qualifying education) This totals 100% of the requirements and meets the qualification requirements for GS-7 grade level. Experience:
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must include months, years and hours per week worked to receive credit for your work and/or volunteer experience. One year of specialized experience is equivalent to 12 months at 40 hours per week. Part-time hours are prorated. You will not receive any credit for experience that does not indicate exact hours per week or is listed as varies.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
